Sintra has 2 wonderful Palaces, World Heritage ones, and btw Sintra, itself, is too.
This one is at Sintra's mountains, the other one is in the village, and both were recently restored. Nowadays all historic buildings, etc. are being restored and painted just like they were at their time. But this one in particular has various types of architecture, that's why has various colours too. Was used mostly for leisure by portuguese kings; and each one, from different years, and/or centuries, made extensions on it according to the fashion at the time. That's the why of those different styles, and maybe because it is so wonderful! Even a part of it was yet built by the arabs, from North of Africa, when tried invade and conquer this area between centuries VIII to XI.
